STAR - LARGEST FAMILY-FREINDLY FISHING COMPETITION IN FLORIDA!!

Over 100 Days of Fishing

Almost $500,000 IN PRIZES

THE "2023 CCA FLORIDA STAR COMPETITION" RUNS FROM
MAY 27TH TO SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2023

West Marine CCA Florida STAR 2022 presented by Yamaha, boasts amazing prizes, is the largest family-friendly saltwater fishing competition in Florida and begins Memorial Day weekend.

A unique combination of conservation, data collection and education, plus prizes and scholarships valued at approx. $500,000, makes CCA Florida STAR the states can’t-miss summer-long fishing competition. No other fishing competition in Florida has the ability to engage anglers of all ages and experience levels and includes non-anglers who can participate and win simply by collecting trash and debris.

The STAR competition launched in Florida in 2015 with a focus on technology and conservation. STAR uses social media-based events to educate the public on the importance of protecting Florida’s marine resources. Recognized as a ‘catch, photo and release’ competition, STAR’s smartphone app eliminates the requirement for anglers to harvest or capture and transport fish and constantly promotes the proper handling of all species in the competition.

To date, STAR has awarded over 1.2 million dollars in prizes with $600,000 of that being in college scholarships and non-angling participants have gathered over 6,600 five-gallon buckets of garbage.

2022 over 100-day, family friendly angling competition offers approx. $500,000 in prizes in 17 divisions including tagged, non-tagged, inshore and offshore species.

With an entry fee of only $75 (includes a one year membership in CCA) or Free for youth who become a member for just $10, anglers have their shot at prizes from brand new boat, motor and trailer packages, cash, marine electronics, Yamaha motors, tackle, scholarships and much more.

Most divisions have 6 winning places and are determined by a random drawing of all photo entries of fish on the West Marine Official STAR measuring device, it is not the biggest fish that wins, a format that encourages participants of all ages to protect and conserve Florida’s fisheries for future generations.

With so many ways to win amazing prizes and help protect our marine resources, now is the time to get registered and make fishing in Florida more rewarding this summer.

About CCA Florida

The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) was founded in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast decimated redfish and speckled trout populations. One of 19 state chapters, CCA Florida became the fifth state chapter in 1985. A 501(c)3 non-profit, the purpose of CCA is to advise and educate the public on conservation of marine resources. Through habitat restoration projects, water quality initiatives and fisheries advocacy, CCA Florida works with its over 19,000 members including recreational anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to conserve and enhance marine resources and coastal environments.
